The Capital Soccer Club’s U-19 team won the Needham Invitational Tournament, played on fields in and around Boston during Memorial Day weekend.

Capital beat a squad from the Abbey Villa Soccer Club in Hopkinton, Mass., for the title in a match decided by penalty kicks. Current Stowe High School junior Jack Seivwright scored the game-winning PK.

Other locals on the team include Stowe seniors Noah Lepikko, Alex Pelletier and Sam Schoepke, and Harwood Union players Hayden and Wyatt Adams, Will Lapointe, Duncan Weinman and alumnus Asa Moskowitz. The team is coached by longtime Harwood boys soccer coach Don Haddox, who retired before the 2018 season, and Tom Sabo.

The Vermont squad also beat the Western United pioneers, based in Ludlow, Mass., and a team from Codsall, Staffordshire, United Kingdom en route to the title.
