Harwood boys lacrosse

The Harwood Union High School boys lacrosse team will play for the state championship Friday, June 7, at 7 p.m.

The third-ranked Highlanders will take on fourth-ranked Peoples Academy-Stowe at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field.

Harwood, the defending Division 2 champ, outlasted No. 2 Hartford, 10-8, in the semifinals on Tuesday to reach the final, PA-Stowe survived a stiff test from No. 8 Milton, winning the semifinal game 7-6 in overtime.

Harwood and PA-Stowe split their two games this spring. Harwood beat Stowe 11-5, and Stowe won the rematch a few days later 8-7. Each team won on the other’s home field.

Harwood and Stowe also played each other for the 2017 title, a game that Stowe won.
