This yoga studio on Mountain Road offers a positive answer to the question “were you raised in a barn?”
Indeed, you’ll leave The Yoga Barn feeling a bit lifted after a session in this rustic room, where New England — knotty pine floors, post-and-beam structures, antique farming implements — meets the Far East — yoga mats and incense, candles and om symbols.
“I wanted to embrace the quirks of the building,” owner Lisa Hagerty said when she opened the place two years ago.
Since then, the barn has attracted a dozen instructors teaching about 20 classes a week. There are beginners’ classes, because seriously, learning to breathe isn’t as easy as it seems. But there are instructors able to lead you through more advanced “flows,” testing the limits of your strength and flexibility, and pushing you past them, gently, breath by breath.
Just leave your barn boots by the door.
