Marcia Ball, a Texas-born, Louisiana-raised pianist, songwriter and vocalist, will make her first appearance at the Music in the Meadow series in the Trapp Family Lodge meadow this Sunday, July 15. The show, presented by Skip and Marilyn Rosskam, begins at 7 p.m.; the gates open at 5 p.m. for picnicking. Ball’s rollicking Texas boogies, swampy New Orleans ballads and groove-laden Gulf Coast blues launch a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she takes the stage. Ball was named the official 2018 Texas State Musician by the Texas State legislature, was nominated five times for Grammy Awards, is in the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and has 10 Blues Music Awards and 10 Living Blues Awards. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 17, available online at stoweperformingarts.com until 3 p.m. Saturday, and at the gate on Sunday.
