Capital City Concerts opens its 2018-19 season on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. the Barre Opera House, 6 N. Main St., in a homecoming performance by pianist Michael Arnowitt.

This program of musical storytelling, titled “Fantastic Voyage,” includes Schumann’s Opus 12 Fantasy Pieces, Prokofiev’s Piano No. 7 Sonata, Chopin’s F minor Ballade and Lowell Liebermann’s “Gargoyles,” one of the most talked-about piano compositions in recent decades.

After the concert, a reception will be held in Arnowitt’s honor. Tickets are $15 to $25 each; subscription tickets for the four concerts are $85. Purchase by cash or check in person at Bear Pond Books, 6 N. Main St., Montpelier, or at capitalcityconcerts.org.
