Commodities Natural Market in Stowe has been named a Vermont Green Grocery Environmental Leader by the Vermont state government for environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts.
The standards include energy efficiency, water and waste reduction, recycling, environmentally preferable purchasing, and facility operations.
Healthy Living Market in Burlington and Hunger Mountain Co-op in Montpelier were also recognized.
Vermont’s Green Business Program is a joint effort by the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Vermont Small Business Development Center, is voluntary and free of cost. The program helps businesses that want to “green up” their operations, and recognizes businesses of all sizes for meeting high environmental standards. Information: vbep.org.
