Stowe had just three shots on goal, but a timely score by Hannah Wykoff and excellent goaltending by Sabrina Touchette allowed the Raiders to beat Milton.
Wykoff scored with less than five minutes left. The play started with a penalty corner, and Mariah Barrows fed Wykoff for the score.
Stowe goalie Sabrina Touchette kept Stowe in the game, making 10 saves. Stowe had a 10-4 edge in penalty corners, but Milton had more shots on goal.
Milton goalie Cassandra Desranleau had two saves.
Stowe was 8-4 going into Wednesday’s game at Harwood; results were not available by press time. Milton is 1-11.
Spaulding 2, Stowe 0
Oct. 11
Emma Fischer and Kassandra Perantoni scored for Spaulding, and goaltender Madi Hewitt made eight saves to shut out Stowe.
Stowe actually had more scoring chances than Spaulding, but couldn’t get the ball past Hewitt. Stowe goalie Sabrina Touchette made two saves.
Both teams had been streaking; Stowe had won its last five, and Spaulding’s win gave it five in a row and put it a game over .500, at 6-5.
Stowe 3, Missisquoi 1
Oct. 9
Hannah Wykoff scored two goals and Mariah Barrows had the third as Stowe beat Missisquoi.
Stowe kept the ball in the Missisquoi end much of the game. Goalie Mikayla Hull made 13 saves for Missisquoi; Sabrina Touchette and Carmen Derienzo split the goaltending for Stowe, and made three saves in all.
The Missisquoi goal was scored by Emory Dunphy and goalie Mikayla Hull made 13 saves.
Stowe 3, North Country 1
Oct. 8
North Country got a first-half goal by Kendra Fecteau, and nearly made it to halftime with the lead. However, Ricki Haab scored for Stowe with one second left before the break.
In the second half, Stowe ramped up its defense and Hannah Wykoff and Sam Gentle scored goals, providing the margin of victory. Maria Barrows assisted on Gentle’s goal.
Sabrina Touchette made three saves for Stowe.
Girls’ soccer
Stowe 4, Lyndon 0
Oct. 14
Details of the game weren’t available, but Stowe moved its record above .500, to 7-6, by beating Lyndonville 4-0.
Lyndon’s record dropped to 4-8. Stowe is in the middle of the pack in Division 3; a victory over Randolph on Saturday could boost the Raiders as high as fifth going into the playoffs.
U-32 3, Stowe 0
Oct. 10
U-32 stayed unbeaten in its last 10 games, scoring three second-half goals to shut out Stowe 3-0.
U-32’s record is 8-0-2 in the last 10 games and 9-1-2 overall.
Cilla Wanzer, Maggie Kirby and Aine Kennedy scored for U-32; Kennedy’s goal came on a penalty kick.
U-32 goalie Jayden Hudson made five saves in earning a shutout, the team’s fifth of the season.
Stowe goalie Zoe Ruffle made nine saves.
Boys’ soccer
Stowe 2, U-32 1 (2OT)
Oct. 11
It took two overtimes, but Stowe knocked U-32 out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
The winning goal was scored by Alec Wehse, who got his head on a Vince Van Patten corner kick and slipped it past U-32 goalie Mackinley Shaffer just three minutes before the second overtime expired.
Stowe’s first goal came on a Chad Haggerty off a direct kick by Lars Haagensen.
Russell Johnson had scored for U-32 just five minutes into the game.
Mark Infante made seven saves for Stowe, which was 9-3 going into Wednesday’s game against Lyndon. Shaffer had nine saves for 10-1-1 U-32.
