This Friday, Stowe Rotary is bringing Vegas to Stowe. It’s hosting its first Casino Royale fundraiser at Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa March 16 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Smooth jazz from the George Petit Trio will accompany gambling-table favorites like blackjack, roulette, poker and craps, presided over by Stowe Rotary members, said Rotary president Jen Colin, who says she’s already claimed her post dealing blackjack.
Proceeds from the event will allow Stowe Rotary to support scholarships for area students and buying backpacks for kids, as well as some of the group’s other causes. The new event replaces the club’s annual Oktoberfest fundraiser, a Stowe staple for 21 years that saw its steins hoisted for the last time in 2017.
The funds “aren’t earmarked for any particular charity, but it’s to support our contributions throughout the year to various nonprofits,” Colin said.
The gambling is for charity, but at the end of the evening, winners will be given tokens according to the chips they’ve won, which can be entered into raffles at the event for spa, hotel and restaurant vouchers around Stowe.
