Mary Nichols

Mary E. (Larrow) Nichols, 51, of South Burlington died unexpectedly at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington on Monday, March 19, 2018.

She was born in Burlington May 17, 1966, daughter of Phyllis E. (Marchi) and Byron W. Gokey.

She married John M. Nichols Sr. July 20, 2012, in Grand Isle.

Mary attended Mount Mansfield Union High School and then went on to work in manufacturing at Digital and General Electric. Later, she worked in bindery and production at both the Lane Press and the Catamount Color/Offset House. More recently, she was employed at the Days Inn, Dunkin’ Donuts and Twin Craft.

In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed fishing, hunting, cross-stitch, knitting, and watching NASCAR, particularly her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, bubbly attitude and the joy she found spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Nichols Sr. of South Burlington; her mother, Phyllis Gokey of Missouri City, Texas; her children, Ashley Larrow of Essex Junction, Anthony Gokey of Haverhill, Mass., Michael Larrow Jr. of Grand Isle and Shane Potvin of Florida; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Gokey of Winooski and Kristi Brault of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Wayne Gokey of Daytona, Fla., J. Byron Gokey of South Hero and Charles Adams of Pearland, Texas; and nieces, nephews and extended family. A brother, Robert Gokey, died earlier.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held April 14 at 1 p.m. at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home, 48 S. Main St., Waterbury. Burial will be later in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury.
