Best bike shop: Chuck's Bikes

The red building on Bridge Street in Morrisville village sometimes has so many bikes and parts crammed into it that you have to wonder if the place isn’t actually equal parts wood and drywall strengthened by carbon fiber, aluminum, steel and titanium, as if the whole place might come down if Chuck’s Bikes pulled out.

Luckily, the shop isn’t going anywhere soon, and has more than enough two-wheeled transports to get you going over whatever surface Mother Nature and any road crew can throw at you. And although the wall of metal and rubber might seem intimidating to first-time bike purchasers, a visit to Chuck’s will reward you with a good new ride, upgrade or repair for a fair price, with a confidence that you’ve been fitted to a bike frame that works perfectly with your body frame. If you don’t find something, you’re just not trying hard enough.

Under Hank Glowiak’s ownership for so long it might as well be called Hank’s Bikes, the store is community-focused to the point that you’d best be prepared to spend some time hanging out on a busy weekend. Most importantly: Glowiak and his crew are riders, and they want you on two wheels. Like they say, turn off your cars and ride a bike.
