Amanda F. Burbank

Amanda Foley Burbank, born in Pound Ridge, N.Y., to Frank and Beverly Foley, died peacefully at home holding her husband Mark’s hand on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Stowe at the age of 52 after a bruising and valiant battle with cancer.

Amanda was a renowned location manager for some of New York’s most iconic TV shows, including “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Get Down.” Her specialty was period television dramas. Her love for art and architecture, and her ability to envision a scene within a place, was a gift she shared with millions.

Amanda went to Stoneleigh-Burnham, graduated from Fordham University, and honed her natural born talent at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. From an early age, she served as an unsurpassed family movie producer and photographer, bringing the Foley family closer together through her memory making magic. She made friends wherever she went and brought out the best in them with her positivity and ferocious support.

Amanda was the rock of the broader Foley clan. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Frances (Frankie); husband, Mark; stepdaughter, Ella; mother, Beverly; father, Frank; stepmother, Joan; siblings, Katie, Spencer and Sarah; and stepbrother, David.

Amanda’s dogs, Albus and Cherry, have many fond memories of the Stowe Quiet Path with her and will continue to be loved by all. She is survived as well by many dear family members, in addition to all the people she met wherever she went, who connected with her patented world’s biggest, brightest smile.

People who loved her and whom she loved twice as hard all hold precious memories of Amanda’s zest for life, indefatigable spirit and boundless creativity.

To honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a college fund for her daughter, Frances Adele Burbank, at gofundme.com/f/education-fund-for-frankie.

A celebration of life will be held with her loving community in Stowe, as well as Cape Cod this summer where Mark and Amanda spent summers together since birth and where they were married.
