The Stowe Area Association has its first tenant — an old roommate.
The staff of Stowe Weekend of Hope will move into second-floor office space at the Stowe Area building at 151 Main St., confirmed Amy Morrison, Stowe Area Association executive director, and Susan Rousselle, president of Stowe Weekend of Hope and former Stowe Area sales director.
Stowe Weekend of Hope has operated on the building’s first floor since 2001. It started as an event that fell under the purview of Stowe Area Association, using its space and staff time. In 2006, Stowe Weekend of Hope became a nonprofit organization and started paying Stowe Area Association for the use of some space and for staff help.
This year, Kerry Aliesky was appointed executive director of Stowe Weekend of Hope. Now, the nonprofit will pay $4,500 to use upper-level office space from October through May. It no longer uses Stowe Area Association employees’ time or services.
Stowe Weekend of Hope’s move upstairs will help the business organization, which is moving all its operations to the building’s first floor as part of cash-saving efforts that will help to focus more on marketing.
