Two local singer-songwriters are celebrating the release of their new albums this weekend.

River Arts will host award-winning singer, songwriter Christine Malcolm’s album release party for “I Like You” on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in Morrisville. Malcolm describes her music as “full of honesty and humor with a Lamoille County backdrop.” Featured musicians for the event are Rudy Dauth on guitar, Jess Zehngut on violin, Carrie Cook on bass, Jim Pitman on pedal steel and some surprise guests. The event will also benefit the North Central Vermont Recovery Center — CDs will be given in exchange for a donation to the center. A potluck meal and Black Diamond BBQ will be served. Doors open at 6 p.m.; entry is by $10 suggested donation. More info: christinemalcolm.com.

Abby Sherman will debut songs from her new and second album, “So It Goes,” on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Hyde Park Home Days, and that night at Moog’s Place on Portland Street at 9 p.m. She recorded the album at Robot Dog Studio with Ryan Cohen, featuring musicians Ben Slotnick, Nate Wallace-Gusakov, Nick DeNoia, Sean Preece, Christopher Brown and Katie Trautz.
