Warren Leon LaMonda, 86, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.

He was born in Glover Nov. 16, 1927, son of Leon F. LaMonda and Edith (Dewing) LaMonda. He graduated from Woodsville (N.H.) High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Denise Brochu on May 21, 1949. She died Feb. 7, 2014.

He was employed as a Vermont State Police trooper and moved to Stowe through a transfer with the state police.

In the late 1950s, he began his career as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Stowe and was employed there for many years. After retiring from the postal service, Warren drove a school bus for Percy Transportation until he was 80. He also operated a design and paint business, making signs for many local businesses and vehicles over the years.

Warren was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

Warren and Denise were active members and past presidents of the Lamoille Valley Swingers square dance group. They also enjoyed traveling, and made two trips to Europe.

He liked working on the family camp in Glover. He liked to putter and could rig anything up if needed. Warren will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Survivors include one son, Brian LaMonda and wife Lisa of Wolcott; one daughter, Valerie Abbott of Stowe; his sisters, Ardys Luther of East Hardwick, Lorraine Daniels and husband Elwyn of Greensboro and Janice Moore and husband Bill of New Mexico; grandchildren Lucas LaMonda and wife Samantha, Melanie LaMonda Berube and husband Ray Jr., Samantha D. Champagne and husband Aaron, Casey Kuhns, Kaylyn Kuhns Bohannon and husband Christopher, Elizabeth St. Cyr, Larry St. Cyr and wife Laura, Kyle Hartman, Mariya St. Cyr, and Daniel Abbott and wife Courtney; and his great-grandchildren Cody, Tristan, Makaela, Shane, Harley, Elijah, Sophie, Jade, Rihanah, Destiny, Dylan, Jasmine, Aliya, Adonys, Amaze, Neveah and Ryker.

His parents, wife and a grandson, Curtis Kuhns, died earlier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 728 Mountain Road, Stowe. A reception will follow at the Hyde Park VFW on Route 15 in Hyde Park.

Friends may call Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Burial will be in Riverbank Cemetery, Stowe, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Warren LaMonda may be made to Lamoille Area Cancer Network, 198 Farr Ave., Morrisville, VT 05661.
