John Pizzarelli

John Pizzarelli, a world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, performs Sunday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Trapp Family Lodge concert meadow, part of the Stowe Performing Arts' Music in the Meadow series.

Pizzarelli has been called "madly creative" by the Los Angeles Times and "the genial genius of the guitar" by the Toronto Star. When he performs with his wife, singer-actress Jessica Molaskey, and his father, guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli, they were labeled "the First Family of Cool" by the San Francisco Chronicle and "the von Trapps on Martinis" by the New Yorker."

Pizzarelli performs tunes sung by the likes of Nat "King" Cole, Frank Sinatra and Joao Gilberto, and written by Richard Rodgers, George Gershwin, James Taylor, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Lennon & McCartney. He has soloed with the Boston Pops, and has earned a reputation as one of the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook.

His 2008 recording "With a Song in My Heart" was nominated for a Grammy Award, celebrating the music of Richard Rodgers. His 2010 album "Rockin' in Rhythm" honors Duke Ellington.

The concert meadow will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnics and socializing. Tickets are available at the Stowe Visitor Center on Main Street, the Pizza Joint on Moscow Road, at the gate, or at www.StoweArts.com. Adult tickets are $30.

If it rains, the concert will move to Jackson Arena in Stowe village. To check on the concert location, call 253-5720 or 253-7321, extension 3, after noon on the day of the concert.
