Scot McCray has been named president and chief executive officers of Community Health Services of Lamoille Valley.
Based in Morrisville, the organization is a federally qualified health center whose mission is to ensure that local residents have easy access to high-quality, timely, comprehensive health care at an affordable price.
It covers primary medical care, pediatrics, neurology, behavioral health and dental services delivered at six locations: The Neurology Clinic, Morrisville Family Health Care, Stowe Family Practice, Appleseed Pediatrics, Community Dental Clinic, and Behavioral Health and Wellness Center.
Rich Jacobs, chair of the Community Health Services board, said McCray was chosen in a national search.
“What impresses me most is Scot’s vision for community health. He brings with him a deep understanding of the day-to-day needs of a federally qualified health center, and it’s evident he knows how to move the organization forward,” Jacobs said.
McCray grew up in Camden, N.J., across the river from Philadelphia. As a boy, he remembers helping his grandmother do her job folding sheets and towels in the laundry service department of Cooper University Healthcare. He earned a degree in public health and health science from Clemson University. While raising a family and working in health care leadership, he completed a master’s degree in public health administration.
Most recently, he was principal of a consulting firm in the Mid-Atlantic region, working with accountable care organizations, practices and payers. Previously, he was interim CEO and head of operations at CAMcare, a federally qualified health center in Camden.
