Flea market

Organizers of the flea market and bazaar on Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Puffer Methodist Church on Main Street in Morrisville promise "bargains galore" and "something for everyone." Twenty tables are expected to be filled with household items, books, clothes, crafts, toys, Christmas and holiday items, baked goods and doughnuts, new items and antiques, sandwiches, and fresh vegetables. Proceeds will benefit the Puffer and Wolcott Methodist church missions.

 

Pottery exhibit

Katherine Washburn of Stowe will exhibit her functional and whimsical pottery and petware at the 40th annual Mad River Valley Craft Fair on Saturday, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kenyon's field, on Route 100 just north of Waitsfield village.

Another local among the 100-plus juried artists and artisans is Mark Kulis of Green Mountain Ski Furniture in Waterbury Center, who turns old skis and snowboards into unique furniture and art pieces.

Gary Eckhart, whose paintings can be viewed at Vermont Fine Art Gallery in Stowe, will be giving a watercolor demonstration. To celebrate the fair's 40th anniversary, there will be 40 door prizes and free entry to the first 40 customers as well as anyone celebrating a 40th birthday or anniversary (if they bring proof). Embroiderers

The Green Mountain chapter of the Embroiders Guild will meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the Pines senior living community, 7 Aspen Drive, South Burlington. Admission to the first meeting is free. Information: 879-0198.

 

Chicken pie

Chicken pie supper season is almost here. The Waterville Ladies Aid will prepare all-homemade food for their supper on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 5 p.m. until all are served at Waterville Elementary School on Route 109. Genealogy

The Vermont French Canadian Genealogical Society will present "Beginning Genealogy, Tips on Getting Started," with Sheila Morris on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the library, Fort Ethan Allen, Colchester. Fiddlers jam

The next Northeast Fiddlers Association jam and meet is Sunday, Sept. 12, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Moose Club, Route 2, St. Johnsbury. Fiddlers and the public are welcome, and donations are appreciated. Information: 728-5188.
