Phyllis Jones Despault, 89, of Morrisville died peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at The Manor with her grandchildren by her side.
She was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Wolcott, daughter of Alton and Jessie Stewart Jones. She married Lawrence M. “Pitt” Despault on Nov. 26, 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Morrisville. He died June 3, 2014, at their home.
Phyllis was a 1949 graduate of Peoples Academy. She worked as a cashier at Grand Union for 34 years.
Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo and making scrubbies.
Survivors include her children, David Despault and partner Barb Draper of Hyde Park, and Carol Crothers of Hyde Park; grandchildren Amy (Jon) Gillilan, Jared (Ashley) Despault and Whitney (Christopher) Clement; great-grandchildren McKayla, Jonny, Nathan, Madelyn, Sophie, Maxwell, Greyson and Abigail Phyllis; a sister, Madeline Hooper of Morrisville; and many nieces and nephews.
Five brothers died earlier: Stewart, Wayne, Melvin, Andrew and Alton Jones.
A graveside service for Phyllis and Pitt will be held Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. at the Lake View Cemetery in Morrisville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Manor, “Making Dreams Come True” Fund, c/o Laurie Shapleigh, 577 Washington Highway, Morrisville, VT 05661.
