The Nature Center is open at Little River State Park in Waterbury Center Fridays from 4 to 6:30 p.m.; Saturdays from 4 to 6:15 p.m. and midday Sundays.
Entry fees are $4 for adults, $2 for children aged 4 to 13, and free for ages 3 and under.
Special programs will be offered; they’re first-come, first-served, and space is limited. Participants can leave at any time; hikes have simple one-way out and back routes. Water is a necessity; bringing snacks or lunch for hikes is optional.

Fridays, June 7 and 14
6 to 6:45 p.m. Coexisting With Bears. Nature Center.
7 to 7:45 p.m. Frogger! iNaturalist citizen science project. A-Side Beach.
Saturdays, June 8 and 15
9 a.m. Finding Birds By Ear. Locate and identify birds by their songs. CCC Camp Smith parking lot. Saturday: 45 minutes; Sunday: up to 75 minutes or more.
10 a.m. Little River Ramble. Guided tours, accessed by park hiking trails. Adaptable for all abilities. Sturdy shoes, water, snacks required. Pre-register; first come, first served. Park Office.
2 p.m. Stream Safari. Secret life of a shady mountain stream. Bring dip nets; limited supply available. Meet at Nature Trail. Up to 90 minutes with option to extend.
4 p.m. Making Tracks, Seeing Skins & Skulls. Make and paint Plaster of Paris track casts to take home. Meet “Mammal Puppeteers” while casts dry. Nature Center. 45 minutes.
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunset Aquadventure Paddle.

Sundays, June 9 and 16
10:30 a.m. Junior Ranger Roundup & Service Project, Nature Center (about one hour and 15 minutes). Adults: help remove invasive exotic plant species, 45 minutes.
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Rockin’ the Little River: Tour of Waterbury Dam. Guided walk. Meet at Little River Road near park gate.
2 p.m. 1 to 2 hours depending on interest. Wildflower Wander. Become a “citizen scientist” using iNaturalist. Register at park office.
